Spring is in the Air
Spring is stretching her limbs, shaking off the last chill of winter, and it’s like everything in the air smells different now—like possibility, like something waking up, don’t you feel it?
This season has a way of making us look around and ask: What needs to go? What deserves to stay? We clear out closets, sweep the dust from forgotten corners, open the windows and let fresh air rush in. But the real cleaning happens somewhere deeper.
Spring is for getting right with yourself. For pulling out the old roots of doubt and fear, making space for something softer, wilder, more true. The seeds we planted—some long ago, some without even realizing—are finally pushing through the soil. Dreams we almost gave up on. Love we were too scared to accept. Versions of ourselves we’ve been slowly, quietly becoming.
A few weeks ago, I'd planted seeds. I've been almost mindlessly tending them ever since, simply spending 10-15 minutes a day clearing away the leaves and watering the soil. And then, as if all of a sudden, yesterday I saw the first sprouts peak their way through the earth. And the first feeling I had in that moment was absolute joyous surprise.
If you've ever planted a garden, maybe you'll know what I mean by this "surprise" feeling. Isn't it interesting that as humans, we know the formula to bring something to life: it's innately stored within our cells, we inharently know how. And yet, when we see the things we've planted coming to life, it's almost like we cannot believe it's coming to be.
I shared last week that I'd was hosting a birthday party for myself in my new home in Austin. As I stood in my kitchen among 40+ people, most of whom I've known for less than 6 months, I had that same moment of joyous surprise. It was like I couldn't believe that the seeds I'd been planting in this community were sprouting.
All of this shared to say, you know the formula. So do I. We know the cycles. We know the seasons. We innately know what it takes to create something new in our lives. Let it be a joyous surprise when the seeds you're planting start to sprout.
So this is your gentle nudge: Make space for the life that is ready to bloom.
Let go of what’s holding you back. Tend to your garden, inside and out. Let spring come.
