A Cookie is a Love Letter

Sav’s Famous Chocolate Chip Cookies

Baking is a kind of love language. It’s a slow, intentional, quiet act of care. So whether you’re making these cookies for yourself, a lover, a new friend, or someone who needs a little extra sweetness in their day—know that they carry a little bit of love in every bite.

Scroll to the bottom to see a printable version of this recipe card, you can keep it in your kitchen or tuck it into a gift bag to share with friends. It's one thing to share things we bake, it's another to share how to bake them!

Tag me if you bake them—I’d love to see.

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter at room temp
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • ½ dark brown sugar, packed
  • 1 tablespoon molasses
  • 2 large eggs at room temp
  • 2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
  • 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 cup milk chocolate chunks (plus extra for topping)
  • Flaky sea salt, for finishing (click here to get my favorite kind)

Instructions:

  1. Bring all ingredients to room temperature before beginning.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar, and molasses until whipped & smooth.
  3. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour & baking soda. Slowly fold the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients until just combined.
  5. Gently fold in the milk chocolate chunks.
  6. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  7. Scoop out dough balls (about 2 tablespoons each) and place them on the baking sheet, leaving space between each.
  8. Bake for 9-12 minutes, until the edges are golden but the centers are still soft.
  9. While they’re still warm, sprinkle a little flaky sea salt on top. Here's a link to my favorite. This is the magic step—trust me.
  10. Let them cool for a few minutes (if you can wait), then enjoy.

Hope you enjoy!
